Step In Dog Harness | Truelove | UK
The Truelove step in reflective dog harnesses are designed for simplicity and are a simple and quick fit solution.
They are not placed over the head so any dogs that have a tendency to be uncomfortable with things being placed over their heads can finally relax!
Also, as the legs are placed in the holes and then brought up the sides, this makes it a very good no escape dog harness.
In some cases, dogs can back out of harnesses which have poor designs or are far too loose on the dog. This design can eliminate your dog doing a 'Houdini' on you and gives you peace of mind.
Instead of a fixed loop being placed over the head, the dog simply steps into the harness and then both side straps are brought up on the left and right sides of the dog and clipped together.
A lead is then placed through the hole formed by two strong zinc alloy clips and you are then ready to go. This makes the harness very fast to fit and place on your dog.
Truelove Step In / Easy Fit Dog Harness
To adjust the harness, all you need to do is move the strap buckles on one side of the front or rear areas of the harness. This will either make the harness tighter or looser The harness should be fairly tight but not very tight.
A good rule of thumb is to place a finger in between the strap and the dog's body and you should be able to do this comfortably and feel a pinch. If you can't get both fingers under the straps then the harness is too tight.
If your fingers are free to move a lot without feeling much of a pinch then the harness is too loose. The adjustment buckles are designed to stay firm once set so they should not move while the dog is moving around.
To test the true fit of the harness, simply walk your dog and see if the dog feels and looks comfortable and also that the harness is not too tight or is flapping and moving around as you walk.
The easy fit step in dog harnesses from Truelove come in a range of sizes and in colours blue, pink, orange and neon yellow. Matching leads and collars are available.
Please note: It is VERY important that you measure your dog's chest/belly area before you order a dog harness. Please do not guess the size as this can result in a return where you will pay for the return postage. Please see the size guide tab for more information. As a general rule, you just need to measure around the girth of your dog's chest/belly just behind the front legs. Our harnesses are a good match to size and have a greater level of adjustment than many people realise.
The step in harnesses have even more range for adjustment as the size altering buckles can be expanded and moved into the padded material itself so the edge of this material is not the full extent of adjustment. Where are the lead attachment points?
The top lead attachment points consist of two light but very strong zinc alloy clips that come together from both sides as you bring it up to the sides of the dog. You can then clip the harness together using the fastening buckle and put your lead end through the hole formed by the two clips zinc alloy clips. Customers will also have the option of buying a matching standard lead here and then attaching it to the top clip.
Please see the video below to see how the harness is fitted to your dog.
The step in harness opens up to allow you to place your dog's leg through the holes. If you look at the black part of this image as a capital letter I you will see the spaces to the left and right are for the dog's legs. The yellow straps are then brought up to the sides of the dog and a clip secures the harness in place.
You can then attach a lead to the metal clips that come together. It is a very simple design and is a great option for dog owners who have seen their dogs react negatively to things being placed over their heads.
Colours and reflective strips

So what is a step in harness?
A step in dog harness is one that opens out and can be put on your dog by placing its legs through the holes (while it stands) and then brought together around the sides of your dog's body and fastened at the top. This type of dog harness is good for dogs that feel uncomfortable with anything that is placed over their head.
What is the dog harness made from?
They are made of a strong, durable mix of polyester, nylon oxford fabric with a patented 3M scotchlite reflective material.
They show up in car headlights and under street lights, helping you and your dog to be seen on those darker nights.
What type of adjustment points does it have?
There are two adjustment points on both the chest and neck straps so they are designed to be a very good fit. Please ensure that you order the correct harness by measuring your dog around the girth of the chest/belly and then matching that measurement to the best fit on the size guide table.
What type of lead/leash fastenings does it have?
This type of harness has attachment points for a lead on the top of the harness which falls in between the dog's shoulders. They are made from a strong zinc alloy metal that come together to form one very strong attachment.
Where are the items shipped from and how long will they take to get to me?
We ship all harnesses from our UK office and you should receive your product within 2-4 days if you reside in the UK or 5-14 days if outside of the UK.
How do I ensure that I get the correct size?
Just measure your dog around the girth of the chest. This is the circumference around the widest part of the chest and just behind the front legs. Please see the illustration of the dog in the Sizes tab above. You can then watch the video on this page for more information.
There is loads of adjustment in both front and rear straps. If you look at one of the images in the gallery you can see that you can even expand the buckle and place it (tuck it into the material plate) or push it all the way through to the other side. Remember, when you have double strap on both sides it is on its tightest and when there is single strap on both sides it is on its loosest. Just choose a harness that falls within one of the chest sizes in the table and then select it from the drop down menu.
The harnesses have been proportioned in such a way that even if your dog is a strange size (large head/neck and small body or vice versa) the neck and chest straps can be adjusted to fit. Therefore, just use the chest sizes as a guide and order the size that is closest to your dog's measurements.
|Size||To fit chest in cm and inches|
|small||28-40 cm / 11-16 inches|
|medium||40-56 cm / 16-22 inches|
|large||56-94 cm / 22-37 inches|
Please note: It is VERY important that you measure your dog's chest/belly area before you order a dog harness. Please do not guess the size as this can result in a return where you will pay for the return postage.
